<p>The alkali bath didn't work so well, or I'm too impatient to wait for it! Anyway after a hour I ran some water down the steel and it ran off in a way that shows it's still greasy, so I decided to use sodium carbonate (soda crystals) and fine pumice instead. It's quick, great for the impatient! That reminds me, I must try using toothpaste sometime, it's not much different.</p> <p>Anyway the soda and pumice was more effective at cleaning than using the hot alkali bath.</p>
